DAS Digital Augmented Surgery: a new project at the forefront of clinical innovation

Personalised, precision and predictive clinical and surgical planning.

The DAS – DESIGN FOR AUGMENTED SURGERY project is part of the activation procedure of the BANDO AGGREGAZIONI R&S – SALUTE, a project co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund – Regional Programme Valle d’Aosta ERDF 2021-2027.

The main focus is the medical field, which currently needs to adopt innovative solutions to customise clinical practices in 4P logic (Predictive, Preventive, Participatory, Personalised Medicine) and ‘precision’ surgery (cutting guides, repositioning guides, implants…) in complex anatomies (e.g. Cranio-Maxillofacial (CMF)), realised in additive manufacturing from CT/TAC. In this regard, the DAS project, by exploiting the potential of ‘digital’ 4.0/5.0 (A.I., extended reality, additive manufacturing, …) aims to create an ‘augmented’ ecosystem of interaction between design engineer and surgeon, which extends to maxillofacial operations (traumatology, oncology and malformations). In particular, the objectives of the project are: 1) complete and immersive visualisation of the design process; 2) real interactivity; 3) flexibility of the project allowing rapid and immediate modifications to criticalities during the ‘entire surgical process’, eliminating the risk of non-usability; 4) extendability to rigid bone and soft tissue structures.

Purparlé is born: from the story telling to the “shop telling”

Purparlé is the new live streaming shopping platform that sets the new standard for conducting and managing “live” marketing and sales.

Based on the Qcast technology, the True Real-Time private system for business communication developed by Quintetto for the media and broadcasting world, Purparlé is an integrated version of the platform dedicated to remote sales and multichannel marketing allowing to move from traditional storytelling to the new experience of “shop telling”: an advanced and innovative solution that responds to some of the main challenges of multichannel marketing.

The platform allows to enjoy the video content of a presentation and/or narration of a product or a service within a tailored script, integrating the icons of the items shown in real time in overlay; this allows to interact with the vendor’s e-commerce site to close the purchase without interrupting the video content whilst being able to interact via chat with the anchor live.

Purparlé makes it possible to produce dedicated formats made in the studio, at home, through an ‘external’ video directly at the producer’s/seller’s premises or by recording video clips for individual products as a presentation or review.

The innovation of the platform lies in the concept of capitalising on the value of several factors: the experience of traditional television production, solving the digital limitations imposed by the big players, building a dedicated product experience in respect of its uniqueness and peculiarity, with no time limit.

Purparlé is not only a product but an ongoing project that will be progressively equipped with new features and functions, some of them already in development, to allow it to maintain a significant competitive edge. Stay tuned!

Qroom plus prototype fully at work in Ivrea.

Perfectly on schedule, Qroom Plus prototype is operative since April 2023 in Ivrea at the company’s premises. Assembled and installed in a dedicated space of the former Olivetti plant, a place imbued by industrial achievements and innovation, the prototype of the holographic co-working environment developed by Quintetto in the frame of the Investment Programme for Growth and Employment (POR FESR 2014-2020) of the VDA region, has been inaugurated to match the deadline set by the programme, first to be delivered amongst the projects co-financed by the regional Government.

The prototype has raised significant interest from the professional public and a few visits from national and multinational companies and organisations are already scheduled.
As a first public outing, Qroom plus will be attending the annual 2023 DemoDay at the Pépinière d’Entreprise in Aosta on June 9th.

Quintetto presents Qroom Plus project at OCOVA forum at Les Orres (F)

A fresh start in 2023 for Quintetto in the frame of the Smart Valley project: the company has been invited to present its pilot project Qroom plus at the annual OCOVA forum, the major interalpine event focusing on the contribution of digital technologies to the ecological transition and the evolution of tourism models in the alpine space (https://www.ocova.eu/en/).
The Qroom plus project has been presented together with two other projects that are part of the Smart Valley initiative: one from the Politecnico di Torino and one more from Core Informatica. Smart Valley is the coordination project of Line 2 “Mountain Technology” of the “R&D Aggregations” call for proposals financed by the Autonomous Region of Valle d’Aosta and the European Union through the Investment Programme for Growth and Employment (European Regional Development Fund).

Quintetto Qroom plus project is aimed at creating the first holographic conferencing system on integrable modules: a new architecture allowing to hold holographic telepresence communication sessions in true conferencing mode and allow attendees to engage in co-working activities where all players are represented as holograms and share tools capable of generating two-way information flows to all other members of the session.

Qroom plus project takes off: holographic videoconferencing is now at hand.

Over the past summer months, work began on the development of the Qroom plus project which will give rise to the first holographic conferencing system on integrable modules: a new architecture allowing to hold holographic telepresence communication sessions in true conferencing mode and allow attendees to engage in co-working activities where all players are represented as holograms and share tools capable of generating two-way information flows to all other members of the session.

The programme will end in April 2023 with the installation and public presentation of a first prototype module.

The main functional developments are focused on the composition of holographic streams and their transmission-reception, the compression of the holographic stream and strategies for optimising the bandwidth influenced by the holographic streams in the communication network, the compression of the streams without loss of quality, and the optimal rendering of the data contained in the stream in visual communication.

The project is developed in the frame of the Investment Programme for Growth and Employment (POR FESR 2014-2020) of the VDA region, kicked off in April 2022.

Qcast live stream of destroyed and captured Russian tanks on parade in Kyiv.

Thanks to the cooperation with some media organisation and some professionals in Kyiv, Qcast went through testing in a few locations in Ukraine starting in late May. The testing took place in order to check Qcast performance in difficult situations with special regards to bandwidth availability and security of the networks. The first phase of testing proved very satisfying and a new round of reporting is expected to take place during the second half of September/early October this time meant to produce actual news coverage for news agencies. A couple of the most interesting testing shot by our Ukrainian collaborators, are showing, and commenting a parade of captured and destroyed Russian armour vehicles exhibited in the street of Kyiv.
