Quintetto presents Qroom Plus project at OCOVA forum at Les Orres (F)

A fresh start in 2023 for Quintetto in the frame of the Smart Valley project: the company has been invited to present its pilot project Qroom plus at the annual OCOVA forum, the major interalpine event focusing on the contribution of digital technologies to the ecological transition and the evolution of tourism models in the alpine space (https://www.ocova.eu/en/).
The Qroom plus project has been presented together with two other projects that are part of the Smart Valley initiative: one from the Politecnico di Torino and one more from Core Informatica. Smart Valley is the coordination project of Line 2 “Mountain Technology” of the “R&D Aggregations” call for proposals financed by the Autonomous Region of Valle d’Aosta and the European Union through the Investment Programme for Growth and Employment (European Regional Development Fund).

Quintetto Qroom plus project is aimed at creating the first holographic conferencing system on integrable modules: a new architecture allowing to hold holographic telepresence communication sessions in true conferencing mode and allow attendees to engage in co-working activities where all players are represented as holograms and share tools capable of generating two-way information flows to all other members of the session.

Qroom plus project takes off: holographic videoconferencing is now at hand.

Over the past summer months, work began on the development of the Qroom plus project which will give rise to the first holographic conferencing system on integrable modules: a new architecture allowing to hold holographic telepresence communication sessions in true conferencing mode and allow attendees to engage in co-working activities where all players are represented as holograms and share tools capable of generating two-way information flows to all other members of the session.

The programme will end in April 2023 with the installation and public presentation of a first prototype module.

The main functional developments are focused on the composition of holographic streams and their transmission-reception, the compression of the holographic stream and strategies for optimising the bandwidth influenced by the holographic streams in the communication network, the compression of the streams without loss of quality, and the optimal rendering of the data contained in the stream in visual communication.

The project is developed in the frame of the Investment Programme for Growth and Employment (POR FESR 2014-2020) of the VDA region, kicked off in April 2022.

Qcast live stream of destroyed and captured Russian tanks on parade in Kyiv.

Thanks to the cooperation with some media organisation and some professionals in Kyiv, Qcast went through testing in a few locations in Ukraine starting in late May. The testing took place in order to check Qcast performance in difficult situations with special regards to bandwidth availability and security of the networks. The first phase of testing proved very satisfying and a new round of reporting is expected to take place during the second half of September/early October this time meant to produce actual news coverage for news agencies. A couple of the most interesting testing shot by our Ukrainian collaborators, are showing, and commenting a parade of captured and destroyed Russian armour vehicles exhibited in the street of Kyiv. Qsignage 4.0: an interview to define the boundaries of real interactivity, functionality and performance in digital signage

Several hundred installations in a dozen different locations worldwide; an history dating back to 2010. This is, in a nutshell the track record of Quintetto’s digital signage platform, Qsignage 4.0. A story that is still flying high with new vibrant perspectives for the closing of 2022. Now, an article created by our friends and partners at Softec Spa takes stock of the situation of digital signage as a media “tout-court” and defines the new boundaries of a market segment still battled between poorly performing digital “billboarding” and really effective tools for interaction with customers to grant superior communication and interaction experience.

Qroom-plus / holographic co-working station project takes off in Aosta

Qroom-plus is the name of the new project from Quintetto that has been selected for financing in the frame of the Call for R&D clusters of the Economic Development, Training and Labour Department of the Aosta Valley Region. The project has been presented officially in Aosta on Wednesday 13th of April during the event “Territorial development policies for a digital, sustainable and green Aosta Valley” in collaboration with the Chambre Valdôtaine des entreprises et des activités libérales – Desk SPIN2 and Confindustria Valle d’Aosta.
The project involves the design and creation of one pre-production prototype of a holographic co-working module, enabling several users connected simultaneously to the system, to engage in active and concrete cooperation activities through their holographic representation and reciprocal view/hearing/speaking. The prototype is meant to constitute the foundation unit of a fully scalable modular system.

This moves telepresence to a new degree of sophistication allowing it to serve real world situations with practical and user-friendly systems being able to overcome limits of space, distance and functionality.

The pre-production prototype is planned to be delivered in April 2023, one year from now.
